Inman Masonic Lodge has created an education scholarship endowment through the Spartanburg County Foundation. Inman Masonic Lodge for many years has offered scholarships to graduating seniors of Chapman High School through the generous donations of the community. Seeing that the money donated would go further in providing scholarships for many years to come, the endowment was created as a lasting memorial to Inman’s commitment to the community. Inman Lodge has made a deposit into the endowment account, but we are far from the amount needed to be self-sustaining. If you would like to help make this endowment grow, donations would be graciously accepted. Donations are tax -deductible through the Spartanburg County Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c)(3) corporation.
Memorial Day Barbeque Sale
Inman Masonic Lodge held its first Memorial Day Barbeque Sale on Saturdaym May 28th. Fifty pounds of barbeque, cooked by our very own WB Steve Pinker, were pre-sold at $10 per pound. A special thanks goes out to all who volunteered their time and energy to make this fund raiser a success!
Degree Work
Brother John Woodyard received his Entered Apprentice Degree on May 16, 2016, and his Fellow Craft Degree on June 23rd. Brothers Shawn Osborne and Cole Howard both received their Entered Apprentice Degrees on June 9th. Congratulations to our newly made Brothers on the steps they have taken.
William B. Logan Memoriam
On June 28, 2016, the Craft lost RWB William B. Logan, Deputy Grand Master of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina. RWB Logan was first initiated into Masonry July 12, 1968, in Matthews Lodge #358, AFM, and was elected to serve his Lodge as Worshipful Master in 1973. He served in the office of Chaplain for his Lodge, as well, at the time of his death. RWB Logan served the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina as District Deputy Grand Master for the Eleventh District, Grand Marshal, Chairman of the Masonic Service Association Committee and Chairman of the Masonic Relief Committee. He was elected and served as Junior Grand Warden from 2011-2013, elected and served as Senior Grand Warden from 2013-2015 and was elected and served as Deputy Grand Master from 2015 until his death. He was in line to be installed as the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in South Carolina in April, 2017. Brother Bill received the Distinguished Frederick Dalcho Certificate of Merit, the Grand Lodge’s second highest Masonic Award in 1999 by Grand Master, D. Samuel Tennyson, Sr. In 2005, Right Worshipful Bill received the Prestigious Albert Gallatin Mackey Medal, the Grand Lodge’s highest Masonic Award, by Grand Master, Jack A. Marler. One of the pillars of Masonry has fallen, and he will be greatly missed.

Brethren,
As we close out the first quarter of 2016, I must say that I am thrilled to serve this Lodge. Our membership is strong, and the things we have been able to accomplish so far have been because of that strength. As I have had to work away from home these past few weeks, I have been in close contact with my fellow officers and Brethren, and it pleases me that you have been placed in such capable hands. I want to thank each and every one of you that have stepped up to assist me while I have been away in protecting the harmony of our Lodge. I would also like to thank all of you for the overwhelming response we received to the Master’s Letter that was sent out at the beginning of the year, and for assisting us in updating all of your contact information. As we move forward with our Grand Lodge’s vision of the Lodge of the Future, this updated information will be important in assuring that you will be able to benefit from the advantages that the Lodge of the Future will be able to offer. Thank you all for your support, and I will see you very soon.

Grand Lodge 2016
The 279th Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free Masons of South Carolina will convene April 28th & 29th at the Embassy Suites Greenville Golf Resort and Conference Center at 670 Verdae Boulevard in Greenville, SC. The Religious Service will commence on Thursday at 9 AM and will be conducted by WB A. Robert Nix, Grand Chaplain. Grand Lodge will be opened at 10 AM by MWB William B. Rogers with the assistance of the Grand Lodge Officers and Brethren. At 7 PM that evening, the Annual Banquet will be held in the Ball Room of the Embassy Suites. Grand Lodge will re-convene the next morning. Also, the 14th Annual Grand Lodge Golf Tourney will be held Wednesday April 27th at the Bonnie Brae Golf Course at 1116 Ashmore Bridge Road in Greenville, SC. The tournament will be a 4 person Captain’s Choice Handicapped Format and is $60 per person which includes greens fees, carts, range balls and a lunch ticket. Single players will be paired with a 12 Noon shotgun start. The deadline for team registration is April 8th. The Spartanburg AFM Club
Worshipful Brother Paul McWilliams has been elected to serve as President of the Spartanburg AFM Club for a 2nd consecutive term, a first in the club’s history. The AFM Club is a club open to all Master Masons of the 19th, 20th & 21st Districts, free of charge. The club’s goals are to assist the lodges of these districts as well as raise funds to assist these district in paying for their annual Inspirational Meetings. They also host activity nights for the brethren and their families throughout the year, the next one being Family Feud Game Night on April 9th at 6 PM. The evening is free, with a donation box for the taco dinner which starts at 5 PM. The AFM Club will also be conferring an EA degree at the annual Cave Degree hosted by Union Lodge #38 in Kingston, TN. If you wish to attend this degree, please contact the AFM Club of Spartanburg. Certificates of Appreciation
Brothers Clay Chester and Eric Bradey both received Certificates of Appreciation for their hard work at the Spring Reunion of the Spartanburg Valley of the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite. These Brothers are members of Inman Lodge’s 4th Degree Team which performed the degree the Friday evening of the reunion, the first of the night. Brothers Chester and Bradey, however, continued to assist in every way possible during the two-day event, and were a part of each of the twelve degrees performed that weekend. Congratulations to these two Brothers for all of their hard work!
Our Scottish Rite Fellows
The Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite Fellows have appointed two of our own to their ranks. Worshipful Brother Paul McWilliams and Brother Steve Adams were appointed as Fellows for the Spartanburg Valley for 2016. Fellows for the Scottish Rite are appointed biannually, and for 2016 the Past Fellows of the South Carolina Orient have appointed eleven Fellows. These Brothers are tasked with bringing new ideas for growth to the AASR and more especially their Orient. These Fellows will attend a leadership conference on April 15th & 16th in Charlotte, NC where they will have the opportunity to have a private meeting with the Sovereign Grand Commander of the Supreme Council, Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite, Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Illustrious Brother Ronald A. Seale. Inman Lodge has only had two other Fellows appointments, RWB Bruce Chennery and RWB Jerry Kimmons, who have both served as District Deputy Grand Masters for the 20th Masonic District.
